Sigurd Lewerentz

Sigurd Lewerentz: Architect of Death and Life was produced in connection with the exhibition about Lewerentz, one of the most important architects of the 20th century, that opens at ArkDes in the autumn of 2021. The 712 page book consists of three parts; a monographic text based on new research and with a contemporary point of view; a section with full bleed images of Lewerentz’ buildings taken by photographer Johan Dehlin during 2020; nearly 400 pages of unique archive material – drawings, sketches, furniture, and interiors – reproduced especially for this book. The book is printed and bound in Germany with carefully selected paper qualities. Type designer Göran Söderström has contributed with a custom version of Ivar for the text, along with the new typeface Sigurd Bold. Sigurd Lewerentz’ “silent architecture”, his works and his methods were sources of inspiration for Malmsten Hellberg in the design process.
