Sigurd Lewerentz

The exhibition Sigurd Lewerentz: Architect of Death and Life at ArkDes in Stockholm displays the extraordinary architect’s creative universe: the landscape and chapel at the Woodland Cemetery; graphic design and architecture for the Stockholm Exhibition of 1930; industrial design for his manufacturing company IDESTA; and the built works of Malmö Eastern Cemetery, the Riksförsäkringsanstalten office building in Stockholm, Villa Edstrand in Falsterbo, St Mark’s and St Peter’s churches and others. Malmsten Hellberg has designed graphics, in close collaboration with the exhibition designers Caruso St. John Architects. The graphic design follows the extensive book that is produced in connection with the exhibition.

‘There’s his famous buildings, which are existential, they’re about life and death and profound themes of what it means to be a human being.’  Kieran Long, curator and museum director
